Here are a few "pointers" to maximize your enjoyment of our natural soy candles. With any candle you purchase from ReBop Shop, you will receive a Candle Care Tip Sheet with this information.
BURNING YOUR CANDLEPlease read the warning label on the underside of your candle. Never burn a candle unattended. Plan your first burn for as long as it takes to liquify the entire top, to create a large wax pool. Your candle will "remember" it, so if the pool is small your candle may burn down quicker without utilizing all the wax.
Trim your wick to 1/4" each time you burn. You may notice "mushrooming" of the wick. This is the accumulation of wax and scent drawn up from inside the wick. It is of no concern except for appearance, and is easily removed when cool. You may also notice "frosting" on the top of your candle. This is a common characteristic of soy wax, and not a concern. Due to the low melting point of soy wax, you may also notice droplets on top if temperatures are extreme or your candle is placed in direct sunlight. And when shipping in winter, a crack may appear in the candle, which will disappear upon burning.
CANDLE CLEAN-UP
When your candle is completed, clean-up is easy with dish soap and water. You may place your candle in a 200 degree conventional oven for 10 minutes or so to loosen the wax, then pour or scoop the remnants out. This will make clean-up easier. The wick base should pop off with your fingernail. DO NOT PLACE YOUR CANDLE IN A MICROWAVE OVEN. The wick base is metal, and many teacups have gold or silver trim which will spark.
Your candle container is not only recycled, but should be recycled again. You can use it, display it, insert a votive or floating candle, or even create a cute little flower vase. How about a potpourri or soap holder for your bathroom? Thanks to our customers for these wonderful ideas!
